Causes
Problem exists when using high-quality and Shield-graded paints as these coats contain film- setting composition by which cords will naturally absorb them. Coated cords become swollen and softened, while remain damp at all time. Shield-graded paint will contain more of this composition than typical or low-quality paint.

Prevention

Painting bare cords is not recommended, particularly using high-quality or Shield-graded paint. Use water-based plastic or normal paint to prepare surface before coating with Shield-graded paint.

Solution
Clean the surface thoroughly. Prepare with normal coat for 1-2 times and refinish with Shield-graded paint.
